Our name tells you right up front that at River Colors Studio, we are all about color. Color in fiber, yarn, buttons, bags -- our products lines are chosen with a love of color foremost. That's why it was an easy decision to bring in the Madelinetosh line of yarns. The depth and layering of color in the Madelinetosh dyeing process elevates finished objects from craft to art.
Tosh Merino Light
Tosh DK Teddy Bear
The company was founded in 2006 by art history major Amy Hendrix. Originally dyeing for personal knitting, Flickr photos of her creations got so much positive attention that an Etsy store was born, which grew into the Texas enterprise named for her great-grandmother.
Madelinetosh yarns bear creative colorway names that evoke specific times, places and even literature, movies and TV. It's a delight to see how a colorway like Mansfield Garden Party works up over the different yarn bases and knowing that you can match base, colorway and project precisely.
River Colors offers the most popular yarns from Madelinetosh including but not limited to:
- Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light
- Madelinetosh DK Yarn
- Tosh Sock Yarn
- Tosh DK
- Tosh Vintage
- Madelinetosh Patterns
Madelinetosh currently dyes 13 different bases and weights of yarn, and we do our best to have a wide variety in the store. From Pure Silk Lace to Tosh Vintage, we strive to stock sweater quantities of the heavier bases and enough variety of colorways in the lighter bases for popular patterns.
Designer Stephen West, who often uses the yarns of Madelinetosh in his patterns, even has his own colorway: Stephen Loves Tosh. Of course, when we send out an announcement that a new shipment has arrived, we cannot be held responsible for the buying habits of your fellow knitters.
River Colors Studio also carries Madelinetosh Patterns, which are designed to show the hand-dyed brilliance of the yarns to their best advantage.
